- A MULTI-million pound development of housing and industrial units is planned for the site of old shipyard buildings on Main Street. Demolition of the building has already started and, once that has been completed, the site will be marketed.
- VANDALS slashed tyres and damaged vehicles during a 24-hour crime spree in Port Glasgow. The wreckers struck during Wednesday and Thursday.

- IN view of the possibility that Wren Road will eventually be used as a bus route, the carriageway will be 22ft wide instead of 18ft, as originally planned.
- NOT only is the town quiet these days, it has also been well-behaved, according to the police. Today - usually a busy day at the Police Court - there was one case.

- l THE Scottish rink games were advanced another stage in the district this week when Bridge of Weir defeated Ardgowan on Kilmacolm green.
- DR Janie McLauchlan has resigned her position as resident medical attendant at Smithston Asylum and Poorhouse. It is understood that Dr McLauchlan is leaving to get married.
