Reach For The Stars

I had a blast hosting the Inverclyde Community Awards. The Beacon Arts Centre put on a lovely evening to celebrate the achievements of local charities, social enterprises, voluntary organisations and volunteers.

Dinner was fabulous and the atmosphere was electric as I took to the stage to announce this year’s winners.

Branchton Community Centre, pictured, took voluntary organisation of the year, which was chosen by the people’s vote, and other winners included Muirshiel Centre and Muirshiel Home Maintenance Service, Greenock United Football Club, RIG Arts, Belville Community Garden Trust, James MacDonald and Greenock Cut Conservation.

Congratulations again to all the winners and nominees and keep up the good work!

The Old Nunnery

I have discovered a fabulous new venue for pampering and partying and it’s right on my doorstep! The Old Nunnery, inset, on Skelmorlie sea front is a breathtaking house with stunning views of the River Clyde.

I was invited to an exclusive ladies-only event where I was given a grand tour of the house (which sleeps 24 to 40).

I enjoyed a relaxing beauty treatment and ate a delicious meal then sampled some wine while I sat under the stars in the outdoor hot tub.

The décor is traditional and impressive with high ceilings, four-poster beds and luxurious fireplaces and chandeliers throughout. The massive lounge/dining room is welcoming and warm and the kitchen is huge and well equipped for a self-catering group.

There is also the wee nunnery next door, which also offers bedrooms, dining and a sauna.

It’s perfect for celebrations, sophisticated hen parties and girls’ spa breaks or a group holiday. I am already plotting an event I’d like to host at the stylish and unique nunnery and the great news is, I can walk home after! Check out www.theoldnunnery.co.uk

On The Radio

Thank you to everyone who tuned in to my show on BBC Scotland.

It was nerve-wracking to be hosting The Music Match, LIVE for three hours last Friday night but I had so much support, it flew in and I really enjoyed it.

The show was interactive and I kept getting texts and emails from listeners in Inverclyde — it was lovely to see names I recognised popping up to make requests or tell me they were enjoying the show.

Playing my own choice of music was a huge honour and I hope to be back on the airwaves for BBC in the New Year!
