BREXIT will probably go down in history as the most repeated and hated word of 2017.

You can’t tune in to a TV or radio news bulletin without hearing ‘Brexit-this’ or ‘Brexit-that’.

Now it’s getting even worse because the Tories claim their decision to call a general election is all about getting a better Brexit deal.

We should have been left to get on with next month’s council polls, instead of adding the disrespectful distraction of a general election in June.

Politicians will be going even more overboard than usual with their ‘ongoing’ jargon, talking about ‘robust and sustainable’ policies and putting people or subjects ‘front and centre’ of debates.

The Americans invented ‘suite of options’ recently, relating to dealing with North Korea.

This was promptly repeated on the telly as if it was a real phrase, and will probably come up in the council and general election campaigns.

Contenders may be starting every other sentence with the word ‘so’ as they seek to ‘engage’ with ‘stakeholders’, and they will needlessly add ‘going forward’ to the end of answers which have not really responded to questions.

‘Shovel ready’ projects will be ‘flagged up’ as they try to ‘lever in’ funds to offset ‘turbo-charged austerity’, while warnings are issued to ‘get on with the day job’.

The general election is yet another consequence of former Prime Minister David Cameron’s idiotic decision to hold the European Union referendum.

He has a lot to answer for!
