FANS of a hit TV series will be keeping their eyes peeled for action on the streets of Inverclyde next week.

Monday and Tuesday will see more filming taking place here for the BBC crime drama Shetland, which is so popular it is going into its fourth season.

Greenock’s waterfront, including the Beacon Arts Centre, was featured in the series a couple of years ago and will crop up again.

The west end is due to be in the frame, resulting in road closures that will probably not please local motorists.

At least they have been told the reason for disruption, which is not always the case when utilities dig up streets but don’t display signs saying who is responsible for delays.

Gourock’s revamped Kempock Street is also to be filmed.
Three years ago a BBC film crew were nearby at the outdoor pool to shoot scenes for Stonemouth, based on the novel by the late Gourock author Iain Banks, and a few weeks ago Hollywood star Gerard Butler was just along the road filming at Cloch lighthouse for his new movie, Keepers.

Lots of other TV and movie projects have used Inverclyde over the years, lending increasing credence to suggestions that we should be the spot for any new Scottish film studio.

We clearly have many convenient locations to support filming that would be done within a studio, and just think of the number of permanent jobs that could be created!
