YET another senseless terrorist attack has taken place, this time in Barcelona.

This follows on from earlier vehicle attacks in Nice, Berlin, Stockholm, London and Paris.

I am quite sure Tele readers have been shocked at the scenes we saw on our tv screens and newspapers.

As always with this type of attack, more details have been made public about those allegedly involved.

No matter who or what organisation has been involved, absolutely nothing can justify this murderous activity.

My condolences and thoughts are with those who have been killed or severely injured.

On a more pleasant issue, last week saw most of Inverclyde’s children return to school with the new intake of P1 pupils.

Day one is a day of joy and tears and not just for the children. It’s a day full of anticipation and trepidation in equal measure.

I would like to wish every pupil a successful and happy upcoming year in school.

However, I would extend a special good luck to every P1 pupil and their parents. I’m sure with the excellent teachers we have locally, our children are in good hands.

Finally, is it just me or are readers becoming even more stunned by the daily round of bizarre antics coming from the USA?

The President is democratically elected but my goodness every day seems to bring more controversy.

The events in Charlottesville and the President’s subsequent varied responses seem to highlight a total lack of understanding about race issues in the States.
