Holyrood message by Stuart McMillan MSP
Earlier this week, I was delighted to attend the first steel cutting for the first of two new hybrid ferries at Ferguson Shipbuilders.
The two ferries are being built in Port Glasgow, for Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited. The vessels will be a world first in using this hybrid technology.
This was an important day for Ferguson's and also a great day for Inverclyde.
The deal will not only secure around 75 existing jobs, but it will create around 100 more.
In addition to this, it's expected Ferguson's will create around 20 new apprenticeships, directly as a result of this contract.
The building of these two ferries will show shipbuilding has a future in Inverclyde and that we can compete with other countries.
The £20 million funding from the current SNP Government for these ferries is a welcome boost for Inverclyde and another example of this Government delivering for the area. I congratulate all at Fergusons, CMAL and the Scottish Government for making this happen and hope this is the start of a greater things in the future.
- The SNP Government's referendum consultation on Scotland's constitutional future has been launched with great coverage and it's a great opportunity to have your say about Scotland's future.

Since the launch, we've seen membership and online support for the SNP soar to an unprecedented high and the Prime Minister's intervention leading to 1,595 new members joining the SNP.
