TV auction show star Anita Manning will breeze into town again tomorrow for the latest in a long list of enterprising charity events organised by Greenock Rotary.

This time the Rotarians are raising money for ‘Mary’s Meals Backpacks’.

This worthy cause appeals to schools, clubs, businesses, churches and individuals to fill backpacks with basic educational materials to send to children receiving ‘Mary’s Meals’, who provide food for poor youngsters in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and South America.

There should be a sizeable turnout to see the down-to-earth Bargain Hunt and Flog It! personality, and there is every chance her expert eye will alight upon some apparently inconspicuous item which turns out to be worth a few bob.

Antiques might make some yawn, but these series have been running for many years and clearly have an avid following all over Britain.

Anita describes herself as more of an auctioneer than a dealer, and talks passionately about antiques and their sense of history, beauty, craftsmanship and design.

Her previous appearance at a Rotary Antiques Roadshow went down very well, and public reaction so far indicates this one will also attract a great deal of attention.

So have a rummage around your abode for old stuff, and get yourself along to the Lyle Kirk (Finnart St Paul’s) in Newark Street between 10am and 2pm.

You could make yourself some unexpected cash from your attic — and help charity at the same time!
