DO you ever do things that cause your partner to put on a look of concern?

Memory lapses can lead to more worrying issues but I believe occasional moments of daftness should not be taken too seriously.

The General Manager gets mad when I lose things about the house, especially when she claims to have seen me with the missing object in my hand just a couple of minutes earlier.

My ability to mislay items is almost entirely restricted to matters within Gowar Towers.

One notable exception, which was mentioned here some time ago, was when I lost my car in Port Glasgow. More than 30 years ago I was invited to a dinner dance in the Port Town Hall on a Friday evening.

I drove to the function, having had the intention to stick to soft drinks.

The company was most convivial and I ended up having three or four refreshments. Needless to say, I made the firm decision to leave my car parked overnight before consuming the first one.

I should stress once again that my intake the previous evening was only three or four glasses of entertaining liquid and I was as fresh as a daisy when going back to Port Glasgow to collect my car later on the Saturday.

Bizarrely, I had a complete blank as to where the vehicle had been parked and trekked around the town centre for some considerable time before finding the car. I have never lost a car since but admit to doing the occasional daft thing from time to time.

The GM and yours truly booked a night away last Saturday. Before leaving, I took a shower and washed my hair prior to having a shave.

I next stood in front of the bathroom sink and watched myself in the mirror rubbing shaving foam into my hair!

My beloved was surprisingly supportive when advised of my daftness, for which I had no explanation. She thought I had perhaps decided to shave my head and changed my mind. However, I would love to know what she then wrote in her diary.
