AS the cold winter weather takes hold and cases of meningitis begin to rise, I'd like to point your readers in the direction of Meningitis UK's website.

We've just launched a new section explaining about all aspects of the disease in the hope that people will be better prepared to spot the symptoms and get swift treatment.

Now is the time to be extra vigilant as symptoms for meningitis are easily confused with more minor ailments such as the common cold or flu.

We have redesigned our new research pages to be userfriendly and explain about the disease fully while offering help and support.

The education section, with a quiz and symptoms puzzle, aims to help people diagnose the deadly brain bug more quickly and save lives.

New interactive features, including a flash game, explain how the immune system works and show the success of vaccines and treatment.

Meningitis UK's mission is to eradicate meningitis completely. Please visit www.meningitisuk. org and click on the 'meningitis' tab to find out more.
