I CANNOT believe Inverclyde Council"s decision not to fund a valuable asset to our community - by that I mean Phoenix Community health project.
I have been using the bereavement services provided by Phoenix for a while now after suffering a bereavement. This service helped me through my darkest days - days in which I often thought about ending it all myself, but for the phenomenal support I was given by the staff at the project.
I still haven"t got rid of all my demons and, with Phoenix closing, I don"t know where to go. I don"t want to have social workers or health visitors getting me involved in paperwork and analysing my every move.
Phoenix is the kind of project that goes about its work quietly, and very professionally, and yet achieves results for people like me.
I despair at our leaders, who hide behind umbrella statements like "a spokesperson".
Why can"t they come out and say who made this decision so we can ask directly why they did?
I am angry the council is not keeping this project going when we all know how much money is wasted in our NHS with lease cars, dinner meetings, etc. I plead with you Inverclyde Alliance, Inverclyde Council, and the health board - please, please think again before you take away a vital asset within our community.
