GREENOCK Golf Club held its 36th Charity Tri-Am on Saturday and it was voted a great success.

Thanks to the efforts of the sponsors, members and competitors, £3,500 was raised, with £1,750 being presented to both the Richmond Fellowship Scotland, which provides support packages for people with complex needs, and Action for Children Inverclyde.

At the presentation of prizes, event patron Michael Brown, past chairman of the R & A Championship Committee, and Ian Howarth, president of the Scottish Golf Union, paid tribute to the fine golf, excellent fellowship and great atmosphere that had characterised the day.

An added bonus was the weather was sunny and warm throughout the event. Alex Paterson from the Richmond Fellowship Scotland, and Paul Carroll from Action for Children Inverclyde, expressed their thanks for the generous gifts that would greatly aid the work carried out locally by their organisations after the cheques were presented by club vice captain Peter Gallagher.

The club is grateful to all who supported the event.
