ARCHIE Campbell has picked up the Irn-Bru Phenomenal Young Player of the Month Award for September - and now he wants to help Morton collect their fifth straight league win today.

The diminutive striker scored five goals last month to take his tally to seven for the season as he helped fire Ton into third spot in the league table.

That has brought Campbell both the Young Player award and the SFL Ginger Boot award for top goalscorer.

And the young Ton hitman has been in top form ahead of today's home clash with First Division leaders Partick Thistle.

Speaking at Hampden after receiving his awards, Campbell told the Tele: "This will be a good test for us as Thistle have had a really great start to the season.

"It will be a good game. Obviously the atmosphere will be excellent and hopefully we can go and put on a good performance and pick up the three points.

"It's been good for the team as we've won four in four, but on a personal level it was nice to come in and pick up these awards.

"I've always been known for scoring goals and there is no doubt in my mind that if I am playing and get chances then I will score.

"I did that at Cowdenbeath before I came to Morton - I think I was on loan there for four months and I ended up scoring eight goals, which is all right!" Ton can move within two points of the league summit with victory today and tee the club up for another major match against Dunfermline after the international break.

And Campbell insists all at Cappielow are confident that the squad is strong enough to mount a title challenge this season.

He said: "We've got a really good squad - all of the boys, the gaffer and everybody at the club always believed that was the case.

"Hopefully we can keep up the results and keep doing as well as we are. If we do that then we will be up there challenging."
