MORTON'S final home game of the 2012-13 season proved a major disappointment as they slumped to a tepid 2-0 defeat against Hamilton.

Accies are the only team not to lose to second-placed Ton this term, and they preserved their proud record with a Stevie May-inspired win.

After threatening to score for most of the first half, impressive forward May was the man who, rather inevitably, broke the deadlock.

The St Johnstone loanee combined with Ali Crawford, working a neat one-two on the edge of the box, before planting a fine placed effort in the top-right corner of the net.

In the second half, away skipper Martin Canning headed a Crawford cross against the face of the crossbar as Accies threatened to extend their lead.

May was giving Ton a torrid time and added a second on 55 minutes, sweeping home at the far post after the hosts had failed to deal with Crawford's inswinging corner.

For Ton, Martin Hardie went close with a free-kick, and sub Peter MacDonald fired a snapshot against the inside of the post.

But Allan Moore's men failed to get out of first gear at any point in the 90 minutes and got exactly what they deserved from the match - nothing.

Ton boss Moore said: "That was Jekyll and Hyde from last week. We were delighted with them at Livingston but today we were flat and it was hugely frustrating."
