FORMER Morton midfielder Chris Millar will coach one the Cappielow club's youth academy sides next season, the Tele can exclusively reveal.

The Tele columnist recently put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with SPL outfit St Johnstone, for whom he has played since leaving Ton five years ago.

However, at 30 Millar is already looking beyond his playing career and was keen to get involved in the coaching side of the game.

Head of youth Derek Anderson told the Tele: "We spoke to Chris and he will be coming in to work with the under-15s next season.

"You've got a boy there in Chris who is playing in the Premier League and who's keen to come in and get started. He's raring to go and that's great news for me.

"Chris and Warren [Hawke] know each other, so I got his number and we had a good chat on the phone and he's more than delighted to come in.

"So Sandy MacLean, Chris and Pat McIlvogue will take the 15s next season. Pat worked with Sandy as his assistant at Largs Thistle and then took over when Sandy left there for Arthurlie.

"So there's a wealth of experience there and the quality of our coaches just keeps going up."
