MORTON head to Clackmannanshire tonight as they face bottom of the table Alloa in a crucial Championship clash.

Their meeting comes after the recent fixture between the clubs was abandoned due to heavy snowfall.

The decision came deep into the second half with the home side well on top and leading 1-0, and they were understandably bitterly disappointed by the call-off.

Ton boss Jim Duffy admitted afterwards that his side had been given a major let-off having performed very poorly on the day, albeit in difficult conditions.

They will now hope to put that right this evening - and they need points after enduring a difficult run in the league.

The Greenock men have not won a Championship fixture since defeating Queen of the South in mid-November - and have now dropped to sixth place in the table behind rivals Queen of the South and Raith Rovers.

St Mirren - who were once 12 points adrift of Ton - have also drawn level with them, with Dumbarton also closing the gap in recent weeks, although both clubs have played one game more.

Ton go into tonight's encounter in confident mood having dismantled Annan Athletic in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

Their 4-1 win at Galabank continued their strong form in the competition and has set them up for a big clash against Celtic in the last eight.

But the main focus for now is getting back on track in the league. They will be going for a third victory over the Wasps this term, having won both previous games 1-0.

In terms of team news, the main headache facing boss Duffy is in goal - with keeper Derek Gaston ruled out after he suffered a head knock on Saturday. Ton have until 5pm today to find a replacement, or they will turn to youngster Jamie McGowan, who had some first team experience last year.

Thomas O'Ware was subbed on Saturday after taking a painful hit in the latter stages following a collision at a corner kick, but it's hoped he'll be able to take his place in the defence.

Kick off at the Indodrill Stadium this evening is at 7.30pm.
