MORTON surrendered a two goal advantage as they stuttered to a draw at bottom of the table Alloa tonight.

Jim Duffy's men raced into the lead with two early strikes but allowed the home side back into the match and had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Ton made three changes from Saturday's cup win at Annan, with Jamie McGowan, Ricki Lamie and Michael Miller all starting.

They got off to the perfect start when Declan McManus grabbed his first goal since returning to the club last month, heading home in 13 minutes from close range after a Denny Johnstone shot had been parried.

The Greenock men extended their lead five minutes later when Stefan McCluskey smashed a fierce shot into the net.

But in a pivotal moment they lost a goal almost straight away. Colin Hamilton struck a shot which took a wicked deflection and looped beyond young stand-in keeper McGowan, deputising for the injured Derek Gaston.

Ton were unable to restore their two goal cushion after the break and eventually paid the price when Wasps' stopper Dougie Hill headed home from a corner in the 71st minute.

Boss Duffy threw both Bobby Barr and Alex Samuel on in an effort to find a late winner but there was no further scoring.

Ton now face a home match against Dumbarton on Saturday.
