AN online auction of prototype shirts put on display as supporters voted to select Morton’s new strip has raised over £1,000 for the club’s community trust.

All five one-of-a-kind jerseys were up for grabs on the McTear’s website before bidding closed at 9pm on Monday night.

The most popular lot by far was the Tartan hoops, right, which received 27 offers and finally fetched £550.

Taking what might be considered a surprise second place at a final sale price of £220 after 26 bids was the controversial Ajax-style kit manufactured by Nike.

The retro 1980s design proved popular with fans in the poll, finishing as runner-up in the final reckoning, and received 12 bids before closing at £160.

After a slow start and seemingly little interest, the shirt featuring broader hoops and 1874 branding attracted 10 offers and raised £100.

Last but certainly not least was the winning pin-stripe hoops, and for a kit that will be mass produced and available for supporters to purchase to still raise £100 was another reasonable amount.

An additional lot of two boardroom passes for a match of the winner’s choice added a further £160 to take the grand total to an impressive £1,290.
