MORTON boss Jim Duffy reckons there is no more inspiring a way to kick-off the league campaign than with an opening-day Renfrewshire derby.
The SPFL released the upcoming Championship schedule on Friday June 17, with the Ton handed a curtain raiser against arch-rivals St Mirren.
And Cappielow gaffer Duffy views the crunch clash as the perfect way to announce the arrival of the 2016-17 league season.
He told the Tele: “I think it’s good for the league to have a profile game.
“It’s good for us, good for the players and we will look forward to it.
“When it’s a derby match it definitely alerts everybody that the new league season is up and running.
“You’ve not got any time to feel your way into it, that’s for sure. You’re going to have to be ready to compete!”
