JIM Duffy insists a victory for either side in tomorrow’s League Cup tie against Kilmarnock would go a long way towards deciding who tops Group H.
Morton currently sit at the summit of the section, two points clear of Lee Clark’s team in second place but having played a game more.
The top two face off at Rugby Park this weekend and Ton boss Duffy has readied his troops for a stern test against reinforced Premiership opponents.
He told the Tele: “If you win the game it puts you in a really strong position, there’s no doubt about that, but we know that Kilmarnock have signed a lot of new players. It’s been well documented.
“They have aspirations, and Lee Clark has been quite bullish and positive. He feels they have a team to compete in the top half of the Premiership.
"We’re going to play a team whose aspirations are to be in the top six, so we know it’s going to be a really tough game.
"From our point of view, we’ll go and compete and see whether that’s good enough on the day to get a result.
“I’ll make changes come tomorrow. How many, I don’t know yet, but there will be at least a couple of changes in terms of personnel, and maybe the team shape also.”
