DUMBARTON manager Stevie Aitken says he is looking forward to a trip down memory lane today as his side take on the Ton for the first time this season.

Aitken is no stranger to the Greenock faithful, having spent eight years of his playing career plying his trade in blue and white.

But while the Sons’ boss has fond memories of his time at Cappielow, he admits that his side could be in for a tough afternoon.

He said: “Cappielow is always a good place to come to. I have a lot of great memories here, but it’s not about that today.

“We’ve watched Morton two or three times already and we have videos of them too. Jim Duffy has done a terrific job.

“To have lost just one goal in the cup shows that they are a tough nut to crack, but we’re in a confident mood after last weekend’s result.”

The result Aitken was referring to was his team’s battling victory over recently relegated Dundee United at home last Saturday. A Mark Docherty penalty sealed the points for Aitken’s men and the gaffer hopes his return to Greenock today can add to a shift in momentum for his team.

He added: “Last weekend was a great result and the boys deserve a lot of credit, especially after a poor league cup. We can take a lot of confidence into the game against Morton.”
