JIM Duffy says it would be naive to treat Hibs like just another game this weekend — and assured Ton fans that he has a plan to combat the joint-league leaders’ attacking prowess.

Hibernian go into tomorrow’s Easter Road clash as favourites to take all three points, but the Cappielow manager insists his side are heading to the capital expecting to put on a strong showing.

He told the Tele: “I think you’ve got to have a game plan when you go to Easter Road. If you just went there and played your normal game it would be a tad naive.

“We understand that Hibs have a lot of quality players.

“They’ve invested heavily in their squad and they’re favourites for the title this year.

“But by the same token you’ve got to play to your own strengths, so it’s trying to get the balance right.

“We have to recognise Hibs’ quality, but also go there and try to show our own quality as well.

“We’re not going to Edinburgh with an inferiority complex, we just understand it’ll be a tough test.”

Ton have already played, and beaten, so-called bigger teams this season.

The Betfred League Cup brought new challenges for the Greenock men in Premiership clubs Kilmarnock and Hamilton Accies.

But Morton tasted victory against both clubs and these results have given Duffy and his team the confidence to believe they can take something away from Easter Road.

Duffy added: “What happens when you play and win these games is that it gives belief that we can go to these places and succeed.

“It tells the players that, on their day, when everyone is up for the challenge and everybody focuses and their concentration is good, then we too have players who can be a threat.

“What we’ve proved so far this season is that we are also a difficult side to beat.

“We want to go to Easter Road and make it as difficult as possible for Hibs and that’s the first objective.”

After three consecutive league draws, Duffy claims it is still too early in the season to be complaining about a lack of victories, despite the fact that he thinks Ton have merited more points than they have on the board.

But he admits that to gain another point this weekend, his side will have to battle hard and be at their best.

He said: “I think in football now everyone is always in a hurry. We would love to have more points because I think we’ve deserved more from our performances.

“But football is what you do over the course of the season, not over the course of two or three matches.

“We want to try and make sure that we keep improving. Any point is going to be hard-earned in this division.

“We’re going to have to fight tooth and nail for every one, right through the campaign. We’ll go to Easter Road, as you’d expect, as underdogs but we know we can cause them problems.”
