FORMER Morton hitman Brian Graham reckons he’s ready to shoot-down the club which launched his career when his new side Hibernian welcome Ton to Easter Road today.

Graham spent five years at Cappielow, coming through the ranks before making his debut under Jim McInally in 2006.

After a successful loan spell at East Stirling, he returned to Cappielow and established himself up front during James Grady’s short-lived time in charge.

The man who succeeded Grady in the Sinclair Street hotseat, Allan Moore, offered Graham a new contract at the end of the 2010-11 campaign but the big striker decided to try his luck elsewhere and penned a deal with Raith Rovers.

He enjoyed great success in Kirkcaldy and landed a move to Dundee United before joining Ross County, where he won a League Cup medal last term.

The 28-year-old signed for Hibs last week as he looked for a move back to the central belt from the Highlands.

Graham has fond memories of his early career at Cappielow but has come back to haunt his old club on more than one occasion since by finding the net against them.

He hopes to continue that trend today — but says he knows Ton will offer a tough challenge.

Speaking to the Tele, Graham said: “I’ve been a Morton player, that’s where my career all started for me.

“Jim Duffy has them playing really well and it will be a difficult game. We know what we’ve got to do to win the match but we know it won’t be easy.”

Graham knows it will be difficult to fight his way into a winning Hibs side which has started the Championship with three straight victories and he faces competition from the likes of Grant Holt and James Keatings to play alongside star man Jason Cummings.

But the striker is hoping that he can grab his chance this afternoon against his old club with both hands.

He said: “It was good to make my debut as a sub last week but it’s a home game now at Easter Road. I’ll be hopefully looking to get a start or even play my part from the bench.

“It’s going to be difficult trying to get into the team because they’re winning at the moment. But it’s been a great week’s training and I’ve settled in well.”

The last time the two sides met at Easter Road, Morton ran riot, securing a shock 3-0 victory over their hosts back in February.

But Graham is confident today’s game will not have the same outcome, and the target man has already enjoyed some banter with Ton midfielder Ross Forbes about the clash.

He said: “I’m doing a tiling course with Ross and he was telling me about the last time Morton were here.

“We actually had a bit of a laugh and joke about it. He scored that night but I know what Morton are like. They’re a very good club. I know they’ve done really well and we’re expecting a difficult game, but we’re looking forward to it.”

And Graham wouldn’t give anything away to the Tele about his team’s preparations.

When asked about how Hibs have prepared to deal with their opponents, he joked: “I can’t tell you that, can’t be giving away secrets!”
