MORTON’S Kudus Oyenuga is edging closer to fitness after a painful shoulder injury left him with a bone sticking out of place.

The striker has missed the last two fixtures against Dundee United and Raith Rovers with a shoulder problem but he hopes to be back in action soon.

He has an eye on returning to the squad on Saturday, when Ton take on league leaders Queen of the South following the break for international fixtures.

Oyenuga told the Tele: “I basically had done my AC [acromioclavicular] joint, that moved out of place.

“I had a bone actually sticking out a bit.

“The most you can do is just rest it, really, and do a lot of strengthening work to improve it, and I’ve done that.

“I feel much better than what I was feeling. The problem surrounding my shoulder is basically I now just need to get it stronger again but I can feel as the weeks are going on, there’s more strength there.

“I’m eager to get myself back and hopefully strapping it up and continuing to rehab it, it should improve generally as the week goes on.

“It is much better and I’m much happier.”

With no Championship fixtures played at the weekend, Oyenuga took advantage of the down time to go to England, visit his loved ones and rest his injury.

He said: “I went down south just to see my family, it was good to see them but also good to rest my shoulder.

“I had to get myself recovering because last week I didn’t train.

“I got a week’s recovery on my shoulder, so that should be fine.

“We’ve had a lot of games, maybe five or six in the space of two or three weeks, so it was good to get a nice little break.

“It lets the boys recharge and come back nice and vibrant so hopefully we’ll have more bodies back in training this week — I know we had a lot missing last week.

“It’ll be good for us to come back and see how everyone is.”

Along with the rest of his team-mates, Oyenuga is relishing the prospect of an upcoming exciting spell which will see Ton take on the table toppers then face their first national cup semi-final in over 30 years.

The forward says his side should fear no-one after their recent run of form saw them defeat Dundee United, Raith and Dunfermline.

He said: “We’ve got belief now. We had never lost it but we know that when we do the right things properly, we can give any team a match.

“You’ve seen the teams like Raith Rovers are meant to be up there, Dundee United are meant to be up there and we’ve done well against all those teams.

“We shouldn’t be afraid of any team. As long as we go in there with the right mentality and the gaffer has us training well, we believe in ourselves.

“We just need to keep working hard and hopefully we can march on and carry on moving up the table. I’m buzzing for the boys, the team and the club as a whole.

“It’s a great achievement getting to the semi-finals and everyone’s looking forward to it.

“But we’ve a big game in front of us first in Queen’s and then it’s Aberdeen.

“I’ll be delighted if I’m part of it and I’m delighted to have been part of getting us there as well.”
