WINGER Scott Tiffoney produced a performance to savour as Morton Under-20s put Clyde to the sword with a 3-0 victory at Cappielow last night.

Second-half goals from Alex McWaters, Ben Armour and the impressive Tiffoney made sure Morton’s teens maintained their place at the top of the Development League West.

Tiffoney, who has been in and around Jim Duffy’s main squad on numerous occasions so far this season, had a hand in all three goals, showing exactly why he was handed his first professional contract by the Ton gaffer earlier this year.

The first half of the contest was largely uneventful with McWaters, Tiffoney and Ruaridh Langan all passing up half-chances.

But the second half started with a bang when Lewis Strapp fired a shot at goal that was well blocked by visiting keeper Mark McMillan.

It was only five minutes later that the Ton kids opened the scoring through McWaters.

A decent delivery by Tiffoney was controlled by Thomas Orr and the ball fell to the path of McWaters who slotted it home.

Then came the real start of the Tiffoney show. A second goal in as many minutes followed when he drove down the left before picking out Armour with a cut-back to side-foot the ball into the back of the net.

And the winger completed his brilliant night’s work when he waltzed into the box and drilled a cracking strike into the net, giving McMillan no chance in the Clyde goal.

It was as professional a second-half performance as fans could’ve expected from their league leaders, who go into next week’s fixture against Queen of the South in high spirits.
