RICKI Lamie reckons the magnitude of Ton’s achievements in the Betfred Cup are only just sinking in to him and his teammates.

The left-back, inset, has been involved in the majority of the campaign so far, until he picked up a hamstring injury.

The defender is excited to see his side take their place at the top table amongst the ‘best teams in the country’ at Hampden this weekend.

But he believes it would be silly of Morton to consider Aberdeen the most winnable of their potential opponents after avoiding both Celtic and Rangers.

He told the Tele: “I don’t think I’d be naive enough to say Aberdeen would be any easier than the Glasgow clubs. Statistically it’s still the three best teams in the country.

“It started to sink into me how well we’ve done to get to this stage when the draw was getting made. I looked at it and thought, if you asked everyone in Scotland who are three of the biggest teams, that’s who you’ve got in the pot with us.

“Look at the league table last year, and Rangers are back up there, so that made me very proud to say we’ve come so far even to make this stage. That highlighted it for me.

“Whoever we drew we were always going to approach it the same way. We’re going into it as underdogs.

“We’ll soak in the occasion and make sure we give it our all.

“We’ve got to just go out and see what happens on the day.”
