A MORTON fan will see his heroes run out at Cappielow wearing his own creation after topping the vote for next season’s away strip design contest.

Peter Fleming’s red tartan kit was the fans’ choice, winning the vote by just 12 votes.

Peter will now sit down with Vision to work on the completed final design by incorporating suggestions made by supporters on their ballot forms.

Ton director Warren Hawke said: “The response to our away kit competition was phenomenal, and, first and foremost, we would like to thank our supporters for their involvement throughout the process.

“This was a fantastic example of fan engagement, with our followers given the opportunity to not only vote for the strip their team will wear, but to also design the kit too.

“It was an incredibly close run thing and in the end the red tartan kit proved most popular.

“I decided as a director of the club not to vote, but if I did vote it would have been between that or the grey kit.

“The red tartan is actually a strip that I remember fondly, having worn the original version just after joining the club as a player back in 1995, not just in terms of nostalgia, but also the unique design.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the current generation of players wearing an updated version on the pitch, as well as seeing it worn by supporters on the terracing and in the stands at Cappielow next term.

“The competition as a whole has been another real success story in our efforts to build ever-closer relations with our supporters, and with the help of supporter feedback, we will review the format and process to improve our future kit selection processes further.

“Finally, I would like to extend a big thank-you to Smiths of Greenock for hosting the voting, the Greenock Telegraph for their fantastic coverage and support, Vision for giving us the opportunity to offer bespoke designs, and FifeCare Funerals for their sponsorship.

“All of their backing has been invaluable and helped make the competition the success it has been.”
