CROCKED Morton striker Kudus Oyenuga has revealed he could be sidelined for up to six weeks.

Oyenuga was replaced by Jon Scullion in the opening period of last Saturday’s 2-1 win against Dumbarton after the recurrence of the hamstring injury he suffered in Ton’s draw against Hibs last month which ruled him out for two weeks.

The 23-year-old expects to be out of action for longer this time — but is determined make a full recovery and put the latest injury setback behind him.

He told the Tele: “I’m disappointed to be injured again. I think this one will be longer than two weeks, probably four to six weeks.

“With hamstring injuries you know how they are sometimes. I trained well all week and I’m just disappointed that it went again during the game, similar to the Hibs game.

“I’m just going to take my time out and do a lot of strengthening and make sure I do my rehabilitation properly so that I can get stronger.”

The striker is infectiously positive, however, and was quick to put his injury into perspective.

He acknowledges that he can’t walk into training at Parklea down in the dumps, because fellow Ton forward Jai Quitongo and midfielder Conor Pepper are worse off on the treatment table than he is.

He said: “I can only take the positives, and can’t dwell on it. There’s guys like Jai [Quitongo] and Conor who have much longer term injuries than me, so I can’t go into training with a sad face on, knowing that they are out for longer.”

Dumbarton have been lucky opponents for the Englishman this season so far, with both his Ton goals coming against the Sons.

And he was disappointed to go off after 10 minutes of last week’s clash, because he had it in his mind that he was definitely going to make it three goals from three games against Stevie Aitken’s men.

He added: “The funniest thing about it, my Mrs said ‘you’re definitely going to score today’ and I had a good feeling I was going to score as well.

“You get these feelings and you always get a team like that.

“I’ve scored against Dumbarton a few times before, even when I wasn’t at Morton, so they’re a team I score a lot of goals against.

“So that’s frustrating, you could see the disappointment in my face when I had to come off — but I’ve got to be positive about it and make sure I’m ready when I’m back.”

Meanwhile, Morton’s Championship fixtures against Queen of the South at Cappielow on Saturday March 11 and at Falkirk on Saturday March 18 will be beamed live on BBC Alba.
Both games have been switched to 5.15pm kick-offs.
