MORTON have agreed to sign Dumbarton striker Robert Thomson on a pre-contract, it can be revealed.
Thomson, who has notched six goals in all competitions for the Sons so far this season, is expected to put pen to paper on a deal at Cappielow when the current season comes to an end.
And Ton boss Jim Duffy admits he's pleased to be able to give Thomson the opportunity to shine in full-time football after three years at part-time.
He exclusively told the Tele: "The player [Thomson] has agreed to sign with us for next season. There's been no contract signed as such, yet, but he's agreed to join up with us next season.
"I spoke to Stevie Aitken, probably a couple of weeks ago about it. And then I spoke to the player last week, and he was happy to come and join us, so we're looking forward to having him for next season.
"He's been at Brechin City and then obviously Dumbarton, so he's had a good grounding with clubs who are progressive part-time clubs. But he wants the opportunity to try his hand at full-time and we're more than happy to give him that chance."
The 23-year-old has also turned out for Dunfermline Athletic and Dundee United respectively during his career.
