MORTON star Ross Forbes has never won or scored a goal at Ibrox — and the in-form midfielder wants to change that record.

The Championship player of the month for January believes his side has the ability to go to Govan and cause a Scottish Cup shock.

He says the Ton squad has no shortage of confidence and insists that now is the time for them to show their potential on the big stage.

Forbes, 27, said: “I’ve never won at Ibrox.

“I’ve got a few draws with Motherwell, Dunfermline and obviously the 2-2 game as a Morton player.

“But not many teams come away from there with a win. It’s one of the few places I haven’t scored, so that would be nice.

“We have a young team with a lot of belief and I think quite rightly so, there are a lot of good players.

“It’s up to them to show what they can do, it’s a big game and it’s on TV. If they want to further their careers it’s a good opportunity to show what they can do.”

Forbes insists he is not reading too much into Rangers’ recent poor form as he and his team-mates seek to knock the Premiership giants out of the cup.

Gers were booed off the pitch last weekend as they drew 1-1 with Ross County at Ibrox, and Forbes says the visitors must try and frustrate their opponents and the home crowd.

He said: “The last two Rangers results can work for us and against us in different ways.

“If we can keep them out and create a few chances ourselves, the crowd will get on their backs.

“It’s up to us then to capitalise on that and try to hopefully take advantage.

“They’re under pressure, and I don’t think many people expect us to win.
“So we can go and play with a wee bit of freedom. The onus is on Rangers to come out and attack us.”
