MORTON boss Jim Duffy has confirmed to the Tele that former fans’ favourite Gavin Gunning will not be returning to Cappielow this season.
Gunning, who signed on a free transfer last term after leaving Dundee United, joined Ton on a short-term deal after impressing management during a training stint at Parklea following his Tannadice departure.
But after an impressive few months at Morton, he left Sinclair Street to sign for English League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
He struggled to make an impact and was released at the end of last term having played just 14 times.
Ton supporters had been hopeful of a return, speculating that he might be on his way back to Greenock after an unsuccessful trial stint at Shamrock Rovers.
But boss Duffy says that the 25-year-old Irishman is not on the radar this season.
Queen of the South are amongst a host of clubs reportedly interested in the Dubliner’s signature.
