MORTON striker Jai Quitongo says he is full of confidence going into every game these days — because he knows his team can outscore anyone on their day.

New boys Bob McHugh and Robert Thomson have come into Cappielow this summer to add to the firepower already on show through Quitongo himself and last season’s mainstay partner Gary Oliver.

And the 19-year-old says he would be delighted to partner any of the forwards at Ton.

He told the Tele: “We’ve now got four different strikers in the squad who can all offer different things, so it’s good to play with any of them. I wouldn’t be nervous playing next to any of them, I’d be confident going into every game because I know they’re good players.

“It’s nice to be getting a lot of chances and we’re scoring some goals.

“Even if I’m not the player who’s scoring them, I’ll always try to work a bit of magic for the team.”

Quitongo didn’t start against Livingston in midweek but did look to make an impact as a sub to no avail.

However the striker is still pleased with last weekend’s league action against St Mirren because it was one of his best performances in blue and white. He added: “Obviously I’ve been out for so long and there was a bit of rustiness there.

“I was delighted with how I played after that game and how the team played — so it was overall a brilliant game for everyone involved.”

Morton left back Lewis Strapp yesterday completed a loan move to League Two outfit Elgin City until January 4 2018.
