MARK Russell reckons Queen of the South will pose a different challenge for his side this weekend than St Mirren — but that Ton can be confident ahead of kick-off thanks to their performance in Paisley.

Ton played in the cauldron of a Renfrewshire derby last Saturday and Russell is aware that this weekend’s game with the Doonhamers at Cappielow won’t have the same intensity.

However, the defender also understands that Queens won’t be there to make up the numbers — and says Ton will have to be on their guard against Gary Naysmith’s well-drilled outfit.

He told the Tele: “We know that Queen of the South will be a difficult game to win but we know that about every team.

“We’ve trained hard all week and we’re looking forward to it.

“We were pleased how we fought back to get back into last weekend’s game and I felt it was an all-round good performance.

“It will probably be a different type of game and a different atmosphere this weekend but we’ll just come out and try to do what we did against St Mirren. We’ll try and win the game as usual and hopefully we can manage it.

“It’s just a matter of how the manager views the team we’re playing against this weekend. But we’ll set up to try and win of course, and that’s all we can do.”
