NEW Morton signing Gary Fraser has revealed that he’s ready to put in the necessary hard graft to ensure he’s a permanent feature in Jim Duffy’s starting 11.

Fraser, 23, made his club debut on Tuesday night after signing an emergency loan deal from Patrick Thistle earlier in the day.

The midfield ace bagged 11 minutes during the 1-1 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena as he came off the bench and experienced a quick introduction to life with the promotion play-off chasers.

But Fraser insists that the pool of talent in the Ton midfield area means there are no guarantees he’ll be an automatic pick for boss Duffy.

He told Tele Sport: “There’s no guarantees, especially in a team like this.

“I’m not going to come here and expect to play, so I’ll be doing everything I can to make sure the manager is happy with me.

“Anything he wants me to do, I’ll do it for him.”

Fraser, who spent last season at Firhill sidelined with a knee injury, also reflected on his introduction on Tuesday night.

He said: “It was brilliant getting on but it was a disappointing result and it felt like a defeat. “I felt a wee bit rusty, to be honest, because I’ve not really played that much.

“But it’s magnificent to get first team games and it’s much appreciated.”

Fraser’s last outing was for his parent club against Celtic back in December, but he insisted he’s eager to make up for lost time.

He said: “I love football, I love playing and I’m just happy to be back.

“There were times, to be honest, where I thought it would never happen, but I’ve always had that self belief in me. I never give up.

“I have always worked hard and if you do that, then you’ll get there. “And if you give up, then there’s no point being in football.

“I’ll always work hard and do what I can and it’s paid off, getting a move like this to a fantastic club.”

Fraser, who started his professional career at Hamilton Accies, along with Ton captain Lee Kilday, insisted that it was a no-brainer to join Jim Duffy’s side, after finding himself down the pecking order at Firhill.

He revealed: “It was definitely an easy decision.

“I spoke to the gaffer on Monday and soon as I got off the phone I was delighted to come here.

“This is a fantastic club and the manager and players have been different class, to be honest.

“It’s one of these teams that I’d love to play for and I want to play for the manager and help the team as much as I can.

"I’d love to come in and play every week but there’s good players here and I’ll need to work hard to cement a place in the team.”

He added: “I just want to get as much game time as possible and help the team get as high up the league as possible, that will be perfect.”
