MICHAEL Doyle was relieved after his side picked up a late point against Dundee United by drawing 1-1 at Cappielow on Saturday.

Former Rangers defender Bilel Mohsni opened the scoring for the visitors, nodding home from Paul McMullan’s corner before the hour mark.

But a dramatic late equaliser followed from substitute Frank Ross, his in-swinging corner finding its way on target with Billy King unable to do anything else bar head the ball into his own net via the crossbar.

It kept Jim Duffy’s side in third place, one point ahead of Dunfermline Athletic and United, who have two games in hand, one of those against Dumbarton tonight at Tannadice.

Doyle insists it’s all about getting points on the board at this stage of the season, with everyone scrapping for the chance to be involved in the play-offs.

He told the Tele: “I think it was a bit of an even game, it was two teams not wanting to lose.

“It wasn’t a great game but at this time of the season it’s about trying to stay in the chasing pack and it’s obviously a good point for us.

“If you split your season into quarters, this last quarter is the most important, it can make or break your season.

“We’ve got five games to go and it’s better to be the team that’s being chased than having to do the chasing, so it’s in our hands.”
