MORTON defender Ricki Lamie is aiming to keep his first-team spot as the Championship heads into the final stages.
The centre-back has played 31 times this season for Ton who sit fifth in the league, two points outside the play-offs with five games remaining.
They face second-placed Livingston today, who are the only side they haven’t beaten in the league this campaign.
With a number of players coming back to full fitness in recent weeks, Lamie says he’s looking to remain in the starting 11.
Speaking to the Tele, he said: “I want to stay in the team in these last couple of weeks. We were speaking in the changing room after the teams had been read out by the gaffer [Jim Duffy] on Saturday against Dundee United, saying what a strong bench it was.
“We’ve got a good squad, we knew that throughout the season but we’ve been hampered by injuries from start to finish.
“A few players are starting to come back into the fold, which is perfect timing with a few games to go, giving us strength and depth.
“I want to keep that level of consistency. I spoke about that at the start of the season, getting that into my game, and I feel I’ve done that this season, and hopefully we continue that as a team.
“We need to try and get into the play-offs. We’ve put ourselves in a good position up until now, and it would be a shame for it to dwindle away towards the last hurdle, and hopefully we don’t do that.”
