MORTON’S day went from bad to worse on Saturday after the team bus got stuck in the mud after their defeat to Livingston.

It was a miserable day for Ton all around, after falling to a late loss to second-placed Livi, leaving moods low after the result put Dunfermline and Dundee United in pole position for the play-off positions with four games to go.

After rain had lashed down during the game at the Tony Macaroni Arena, the team bus rear wheel became unable to move in the mud, with the driver repeatedly trying to move the vehicle to no avail.

It added more misery for the Greenock side after their day in West Lothian, and full-back Michael Doyle was thankful he wasn’t on the bus for the journey home after a poor result.

He told the Tele: “I didn’t get the team bus back.

“I drove thankfully but we were told when we got there that the car park was quite full, so the bus had to park at an angle with its back wheel on the grass as there was no space.

“It rained heavily during the game, the bus driver has ended up trying to get out and the bus was stuck.

“That added insult to injury for the team, I don’t think it was a happy mood back on the bus to say the least.”

Morton look to get back on track against Dumbarton tonight at Cappielow, kick-off is at 7.45pm.
