MORTON club captain Lee Kilday is keen to stay at Cappielow after a frustrating injury-hit season.

The skipper didn’t manage to play a game for the Ton this campaign after suffering a serious ankle injury back in April last year.

He made his comeback after 10 months out for the Morton Under-20s, before going out on loan to League One side Airdrie, where he made three appearances for the Diamonds.

After Thomas O’Ware announced he was to leave the club, and with Ricki Lamie previously telling the Tele he is unsure of his future, it leaves Morton light in the centre-back position for next season.

Despite there being no new manager at Cappielow yet after Jim Duffy left the club, Kilday is keen to sign on again.

He told the Tele: “We just need to wait and see when the new manager comes in, it’s up to him.

“I spoke to Warren Hawke yesterday and he said it’s the new manager’s choice, he’ll give him the list of players of last season and it’ll be his decision whether he wants to keep us or not.

“We just need to wait and see when the manager gets appointed.

“I’ve loved it at Morton, I’ve been the captain for three years here and obviously I missed this season, it wasn’t a good year for me.

“If the new manager wants to keep me then great, I’d be delighted to stay but we just need to wait and see.”
