MORTON youngster Jack Purdue says it was a dream come true to extend his stay at his home town club.
The 18-year-old from Gourock has signed a one-year development deal.
He first joined the club back in November 2014, and has made one senior appearance so far.
Purdue impressed the development side this season, and scored what turned out to be the title-winning goal, for the under-20s side last month.
The teenager slotted home a penalty in a 1-0 win against Ayr United in the Ton side’s last game of the season to win the West Development League.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a striker or as a left midfielder, is hoping he can impress the new manager and break into the first team.
He told the Tele: “It’s a dream to play for my home town club, all my family support it and I hope I can make them all proud.
“I’ve gone to games most of my life, so to sign on with Morton and to play here, it makes it that extra bit special for me.
“It’s a good club for graduating out of the academy and going into the first team. You’ve got the likes of Mark Russell, Jai Quitongo, Scott Tiffoney and Lewis Strapp who have made the step up.
“My aim this season is to try and perform with the development squad, play as much as I can and work hard, and try and impress the new gaffer enough to get a slot in the first team.”
