MORTON striker Bob McHugh has his sights on a play-off finish with the Ton next season.

The forward featured 40 times last year for the Cappielow side, scoring eight times over the course of the campaign.

The 26-year-old was disappointed with his side’s finish to the season, which eventually saw Morton drop out of the play-off positions in the last month of the season, and eventually finishing seventh.

And by his own admissions, the striker’s form dipped towards the latter stages of the campaign.

But, following an operation on a double hernia after the season finished, he’s hoping to come back refreshed and making sure he has a full summer to fully recover.

He’s hoping to have a much bigger impact next year for his side, and wants the Ton to finish in the top four.

McHugh told the Tele: “I really enjoyed the first season. It’s a great club with good fans and boys in the dressing room.

“It was a disappointing end to the season; overall it was a mediocre season.

“Hopefully next season we can finish stronger and in and around the play-offs.

“I’ve just taken the rest so far this summer, it’s something I’ve made a mistake with before is starting back again too early and I’m limited with the stuff I can do anyway.”
