NEW Morton manager Ray McKinnon is hoping to resolve the future of first-team players by the end of the week.

The former Dundee United boss, who was installed as the new manager at Cappielow last Wednesday, has been busy speaking to players throughout the last seven days.

He’s already begun to shape his squad, with Michael Doyle, Ross Forbes and Luca Gasparotto being let go, with more players expected to be released.

Morton currently have four players signed up for next season: Robert Thomson, Michael Tidser, Jack Iredale and Bob McHugh.

And McKinnon is keen to add more after having talks with the remaining members of the squad this week.

He told the Tele: “We’re working extremely hard behind the scenes talking to players and meeting players.

“We’re speaking to people and targeting people. We’re getting in front of them and sitting down with them.”

With players away on holiday it has made contract negotiations more difficult, but the Morton manager says he wants to be patient with signings, and doesn’t want to rush into anything.

He added: “There’s a few players that are still on holiday so we have to be really patient, we’re not going to sign people for the sake of signing them, we’ve got to do our homework properly.”
