JIM McAlister has returned for his second spell at Morton.

The Ton midfielder, who spent seven-and-a-half seasons at Cappielow during 2002-10, has penned a one-year deal with the club.

The Greenock-born player becomes new manager Ray McKinnon’s fourth summer signing, after bringing in Chris Millar, Gregor Buchanan and Charlie Telfer.

McAlister moved to Hamilton and Dundee after his first spell with Morton, winning the then-First Division with the Tayside club.

He moved south of the border to Blackpool after his stint with the Blues in 2015, where he spent three seasons with the Seasiders.

The 32-year-old exclusively revealed to the Tele last month he was keen on a return to Morton after being released by Blackpool.

He also said he had hoped he could stay on long enough so he could spend 10 years in total with the Greenock side.
