MORTON manager Ray McKinnon is delighted to already have competition for places in the middle of the park.
The Ton boss has brought in former Dundee United player Charlie Telfer, two ex-Morton men in Chris Millar and Jim McAlister as well as having Michael Tidser already signed up with the Greenock side.
All the central midfielders bring him something different, and the former Raith Rovers manager is pleased with the variety of skills each of them has to offer his side.
He told the Tele: “The midfield is looking great with Tidser, Millar, Telfer and McAlister.
“We’ve got balance, we’ve got experience, we’ve got legs and we’ve got people who can dictate the game.
“We’ve got left and right footers and we’re looking very strong in the midfield. I’m really pleased with how it’s shaping up.
“We want to be competitive this season and we need that quality in our team.
“When I say experienced players, I want players who can really contribute. When I watched Chris against Rangers last season he totally dictated the game.
“Jim is a slightly different player, he’s got more mobility and aggression and gets around the park.
“Those two will get about the park and with Tidser who is 28 and young Charlie Telfer, they’re all different types and it gives us that balance in the midfield, and for the competition it’s great.”
