MORTON manager Ray McKinnon says he is pleased with Ton’s summer transfer business so far after only missing out on one signing target.

Since arriving earlier this month, the former Dundee United boss has been busy building his squad, with only four players signed up when he joined the club.

Since then he’s brought in a number of new faces, as well as a few of last season’s squad re-signing with the Cappielow side.

After signing Ryan Scully this week the former Dundee United boss has a full complement in the goalkeeping department, with other positions beginning to fill up.

This week he also added Motherwell loanee Ross MacLean as well as letting defender Mark Russell go.

There has only been one hitch so far in McKinnon’s transfer plans, after missing out on the signature of Gary Miller.

The ex-Plymouth Argyle right-back, who also had spells at Ross County and St Johnstone, turned down a move to Greenock in favour of a switch to English League Two side Carlisle United.

McKinnon told the Tele: “It’s going to plan so far.

“We’ve only lost out on one player so far, who moved down to Carlisle.

“He was being offered about three times the amount we could offer him.”
