A DEBUT strike from Morton right-back Reghan Tumilty was not enough to spark a comeback for the Ton as they went down 2-1 to Partick Thistle at Firhill last night.

First-half finishes from Jack Storer and James Penrice put the hosts comfortably in front at the break.

But a rejuvenated Morton were much improved in the second period, and Tumilty, who only signed yesterday morning, gave them a lifeline late on in the game.

But after a second loss in as many games, the Greenock side look highly unlikely to progress from their group in this season’s Betfred Cup competition.
