After a goalless first half in front of the BBC Alba cameras, Ton took the lead through Ross Caldwell on 67 minutes.
Captain Peter MacDonald then wrapped up the scoring 10 minutes from time to claim a valuable three points.
As well as drawing closer to Stevie Aitken's side, who were held to a 1-1 draw at Airdrie, the victory pushed Ton eight points clear of tonight's opponents.
The Pars were installed as strong pre-season title favourites but now find themselves 10 points off top in fifth place and in the midst of a run of seven matches without a win.
