PORT puncher James Quigley has done the double after claiming his second professional victory in style - just weeks after becoming a dad again.

The 29-year-old cruiserweight beat Latvian Rolandas Cesna over four rounds in Glasgow to secure his first victory since his wife gave birth to a baby boy.

The Port Glasgow Victoria boxer, who also has a two-year-old daughter, won comfortably on points at the latest St Andrew's Sporting Club fight night in the Radisson Blu hotel in the city centre.

His debut win in the paid ranks came back in October but Quigley has been hit with injury in recent months.

He is now back to winning ways and was pleased to notch up his second victory.

But the modest fighter says there is room for improvement.

Quigley said: "I've performed better but he was an awkward opponent and I've been out for quite a while and was more or less happy with the performance."

The Port boxer says he's enjoying competing in the pro ranks since stepping up from amateur last year.

Quigley said: "I like coming forward and sometimes you don't get rewarded for that in amateur, whereas you do in pro, so I definitely think I'm suited to it."

Coach Kenny Crighton was thrilled with his performance.

He said: "James boxed a tough fighter.

"He started the fight aggressively dominating the opening rounds with his long southpaw jab and powerful backhand proving to be more than a handful for the very experienced Latvian who couldn't cope with the pressure from James.

"This continued over the four-round contest with James winning every round and securing a nice points victory."
