WELCOME to my second column in the Greenock Telegraph.

It has been fantastic to get so much positive feedback since the introduction of this new column with the article being shared around the world.

For all golfers the start of the season is signalled by the playing of the Masters.

This annual tournament is played at Augusta National, pictured, and is the must-have invite of a golf professional’s career.

Golfers of Inverclyde also see this as the official start of the golf season, with medals and competitions arranged to coincide with the clocks changing and the Masters beginning.

If you are planning on getting out onto the course this week then please enjoy but also do me a favour and have a look at your favourite couple of clubs in your bag and ask yourself: do they need a new grip?

The grips are the most important part of your clubs — the only point that you, the player, makes contact with the club, the general recommendation if you play regular golf is that you should replace your grips every 12 months.

At this current time I am offering a FREE seven iron grip for everyone who comes to shop while stocks last, this offer is open to all customers who visit my professional shop during April.

With the season now arriving, if any of you are thinking about taking up golf or joining a club please get in touch at www.derekwattersgolf.co.uk
