Sarah in Open Championship
GOUROCK athlete Sarah Glenny returned to the Kelvin Hall Indoor Arena, Glasgow to compete at the Scottish National Open Championships.
In the middle of heavy winter training sessions, 17-year-old Sarah stepped up from junior athletics to the senior ranks, competing in her first 400m at senior level.
Despite the Clydeview Academy pupil's inexperience at this event, Sarah started well out of the blocks in her race and settled just behind the two male athletes also competing in the race.
At the break, Sarah ensured her position at the front of the group and with 150m to go responded to a challenge and pushed on, pulling clear to cross the line well ahead of the other female athletes.
Overall Sarah finshed a very credible second in the Senior Womens category, beaten only by an English athlete 10 years older.
Sarah, who is not a fan of competing at the Kelvin Hall, said: "I'm really pleased with the way I ran the race. In moving up to the 400m I also have to think about tactics and positioning so it was a great start, but I now know I can run faster."
Last week, Sarah was also at the Kelvin Hall Arena and played a part in her Kilbarchan team qualifing for the Scottish Indoor League Final with victories in the 60m and 200m sprints.
