GREENOCK Glenpark Harrier Emma Baxter is turning up the heat in sunny Spain!
She is working in Málaga at the moment as an English teacher in a foreign language school, and running for Nerja Atletismo.
Emma, 22, achieved three cross country podium places in consecutive weeks for the Andalucian club.
She was third in a 3.6k in Alora, second in a 4.4k in Torremolinos and third in a 4.3k in Archidona.
Emma said cross country races in Spain are different in one particular way from those in Britain.
She explained: “There’s not much mud on the Spanish courses!
“The one in Alora was in a small area with lots of turns and sand. Torremolinos was quite a tough course, and Archidona was another hard route with hills and quite a few turns.
“Archidona was also a cold, windy day, which reminded me of winter at home!” Emma actually slipped on gravel at a tight corner 200 metres from the Archidona finish, cutting her elbows and knees, but got up quickly to secure a trophy.
