INVERCLYDE Cricket Club practice and coaching sessions for juniors continue fortnightly, with the next session on Wednesday 12 February.

Inverclyde are offering free indoor Kwik Cricket coaching sessions for primary school pupils, taken by qualified cricket coaches. These free indoor coaching sessions are taking place on Wednesday evenings from 5.30 until 6.30pm in Gourock Scout halls, Drumshantie Road. More places are available so come along and try cricket for free.

Senior practice starts this weekend on Sunday 9 February from 10 to 11.30am at Lady Octavia Sports Centre and runs through to until the start of the cricket season at the end of April.

Senior members are encouraged to attend over the first two weeks to get some practice prior to the coaching trip to Newcastle on 22 and 23 February.

Secondary school pupils are also invited to these Sunday morning practice and coaching sessions, where experienced players and coaches will be present to teach you about the game. The first five sessions are offered this year at no cost to members and new players.

Inverclyde are looking to celebrate their 60th season in style this year, and are looking to add to their pool of players. Former players of the game — any club, age or level — will be made welcome at this local community club and anyone interested in cricket can also learn the game and become part of a small but successful club. Social cricketers who may enjoy the community aspect of the game are also welcome within the social membership category.

Match secretary Jim Murphy has recently finalised the senior fixture list, with around 30 league and cup games arranged, commencing in May. The 2014 WDCU Championship league season starts with a tough home fixture against Motherwell on Saturday 17 May.
